Amethyst - February

Amethyst is the birthstone of February and according to legend prevents drunkenness and ensures devotion to high moral principles. Roman Catholics and Buddhists use the Amethyst as a symbol of sanctity.

An Amethyst is usually purple, lilac or mauve and the most treasured colour is the royal purple amethyst. Amethyst can also occur in a beautifully rich green colour.
